Normal

PJ day, taking the couch apart and playing with cars...what a good normal

This week has been busy and full of celebrating, great food and lots of good time with family and friends. Luke has gotten to spend lots of time with Gma Susan, who kindly watched him so that I could help out with ACT administration in Cobden for a couple of days. It was good to be back in a school setting for a couple of days and even better to know that Luke had such a great time and *gasp* thrived even though mommy wasn't there every second of his day. He is going to enjoy school, which starts in a month! Yikes!

He also spent the night with Gma Jackie last night so that Steve and I would have a little getaway for his birthday. I hope that the sky was clear last night for the whole world, because the moon was AMAZING!

So, it has been great to spend the day with him today and get back to our normal for a few weeks before we start the adjustment to preschool. He is starting to say colors, tree, leash and mimic a lot of other sounds...Here are some pictures of him helping me get some more sunflowers in the ground today. We planted about 150 and now we just hope that they GROW, GROW, GROW...we will have our own Sunflower Valley!

SMILE...
FUNNY FACE...why do I love this so much? aaaaahh it just cracks me up!

My Favorite Noun

Happy Birthday to the best dad a little boy could dream up...Luke loves his daddy even more than popsicles and airplanes (or books about them). That is a LOT!

Hope that you have a wonderful day, Daddy. I have certainly enjoyed celebrating all week and I love you so much :)

Steve, as a footnote, I really really really really love you too! Happy Birthday!

Daddy time

What does a little boy do for fun when he is hanging out with his Daddy?

Go to Lowe's, of course, to look at mowers (and maybe lose a shoe in the process), push carts around and just have a lot of fun!

What a great Daddy!

Who needs a prom to dance?

Saturday Steve was gone to supervise a successful prom, so Luke and I had some dear friends over for a night of snacks, playing, dancing, pizza and the frequent funny face. It was a super fun night and we loved spending time with Angie and her little animal loving firecracker, Skye! Does this look like fun or what?

! The last one is one example of Luke flirting/charming Angie into a smile...he had SO MUCH FUN showing off for the ladies
After they left, Luke went back to his cars and played before crashing for over ten hours. Star, too, snuck onto the couch and curled into the smallest ball she could hoping I wouldn't notice that she wasn't on the 'dog blanket'...She gets stressed/worn out when we have visitors so I just let her be :)

I am really into some new books

Never dreamed I would know so much about flying machines, emergency vehicles and, of course, the wide range of diggers. Just an unexpected and welcome bonus to having lots of lap time with a curious and book loving two year old.

Diving in...

Had some friends over today after wiggles (which we skipped b/c Luke slept until 9 - woo hoo) Here are a few pictures of the fun the kiddos had. Most of the time was actually out on the deck enjoying a stunningly beautiful day, but we had to check out all of the fun indoors, too.

Great ladies

I love my mom and my Aunt Ellen. We were able to spend some time together this weekend, and it was wonderful! Luke has a lot of fabulous ladies in his life :)

Little burgler

As we were leaving a playdate on Thursday, Luke did his normal move of picking the toys that he wanted to take with him.

The toy in this case just happened to be his buddy Addison's Cozy Coupe...He was very determined to take it with us and luckily I avoided tears by talking about going to Gma Susan's house for lunch.

Talk about a great lunch...great food (including wild asparagus from Gma's yard!), great company, great weather, oh my! He was asleep five minutes out of the driveway!
