All kinds of seasonal fun

We didn't make it to a pumpkin patch this year, but we have certainly had fun painting pumpkins,

posing by pumpkins,

looking cute by the pumpkins,

Test driving out cars over the pumpkins,

making pumpkin, i mean chocolate, pudding

digging out the pumpkin innards (he actually didn't want any part of this)

posing pretty with a pudding face while carving a pumpkin,

pretending to spook Daddy with a surprise jack-o-lantern

proudly smiling by his newest completed project!

Happy Halloween! I think I heard that Batman might be in the neighborhood...

Pancakes and Bacon

For dinner! Yum!

Luke's masterpieces

This is a firetruck that he made at school yesterday. I started making siren noises and he told me that the red parts are the sirens ;) Of course.

Playdate fun last night - painting pumpkins, being chased by his favorite girl, Addie, showing off toys and working hard to share, throwing a tantrum when daddy ate part of his pancake. All part of a good day.

Memorable exchange:

'thank you mommy'

for what baby?

'for that kiss'

Said after I kissed his head while rocking in chair together after a hard day if playing at school :)

AND...I got some chocolate milk kisses this morning! As I raved about how yummy they were, Luke pushed his cup to me for a drink. Shared chocolate milk...that is true love!

Another thing I am grateful for today: my laundry baskets are empty. Why does that feel so satisfying?!? The sun is out, too. Woo Hoo!

Good stuff

We went to Vegas a couple of weekends ago (pictures and adventures to be shared) and when we got home, my parents were at the house with dinner. Luke walked in and just cuddled up on the rug showing his fatique from a BIG weekend away. I think Grandma Jackie was never so happy to see him.

CHEERS! After a really nice garden tour through Southern Illinois this weekend, mom and I stopped at a small local winery where we "cheers"ed a great day and even better company with the Lukinator along.

He is making 'nerd water' which of course is water with a few nerds thrown in...

Picnic fun. We ate our Panera lunch at Evergreen Park - when we were on our way there he said "this is where Grandma Susan takes me"

Time with Luke and my mom over the weekend was great! Thanks for the fun!

Yesterday

Paddleboating, kissing in the middle of the lake, running into a good buddy, sunshine, grilling out with all the gma's and gpa's, love, love, love, laying on a couch with a snuggly dog, hanging up some hooks...all kinds of fun going on!

Ring Bearer & Baker

Just a couple of jobs Luke has said yes to recently...
Getting measured for his TUXEDO!

helping to stir

Get the marshmallows in - STAT!

Hmmm...should I eat this or throw it in the pan? He wanted the treats to be red and orange so we (I) split the batch of melted marshmallow to put food color in...Luke did the squirting of color and those colors were full and rich...Now when he wants a rice krispie treat, he says "I want some red stuff".

Raise your hand...

...if you want cake!

We have been in the midst of birthday party fun. Luke has really enjoyed them, and we always like seeing our buddy's babies growing up...At this party, they had a bounce house and other fun things which Luke ignored. Instead, he scoped the yard out, looked at me and said "Mommy, they have dust here!" "Where are the sticks?" He wanted to dig and make dust from the manicured mulch areas around the trees. Which he did work on for a bit. He also attempted to ride a bike. I think I know what he might get for HIS next birthday!

Pink Gum

"I want some PINK GUM"

" I want a LOT of pink gum"

When the mass in his mouth got just a tad too large, he handed it over and moved on to the next thing that caught his attention.

Luke has been a good gum chewer for a long time. I encouraged it when he was just past 2 years old b/c we were planning a plane trip and I wanted him to know to chew gum for his ears. His good habits have grown to now seeing which body parts gum will stick to and how far he can throw a used piece in my car. Hmmmm...working to break those habits is worth him getting a faux teeth cleaning once in a while ;)
