3-10, 11 & 12, 2010

I don't have many pictures from the end of last week so I am combining the days. Also, Luke and I will be busy Wed/Thurs of this week with some fun activities so I won't have much time to get on the computer.

Anyway, last Wednesday we took another extraordinary hike in the state park that takes you to a seemingly deserted beachfront. Stunning. I subhected my family to another array of timer shots, but was glad I did because even the dogs found their way into the photo for a TRUE family picture! We went from there to the local lighthouse which is another pretty and special spot in the area and then we paused for a construction break. Luke saves his excitement for these sights, forget the ocean there is ground being broken! Enjoyed some lunch at the condo and had a popsicle party later with Daddy. Steve said we had to eat all 24 in the week so a couple of nights we were all doublefisting popsicles and loveing every minute of it!

Thursday was a get out for a drive day since it was overcast. We enjoyed a little visit in Appalachacola but I think the only picture I took was of the dog treats we brought back for the girls...they were a hit. Thursday night we went to a great raw bar for baked oysters (YUM) gumbo (YUM) steamed shrimp (YUM) and crablegs (YUM) Luke enjoyed the sleeves of saltines on all of the tables and ignored (rightly so) the corndog that we ordered for him. Just for the record, we did offer the seafood several times and he was just not into it :)

The last photo is from Friday. It was taken near Montgomery, AL, about 6 hours into our trip. He is still smiling and having fun with his shades. We made the 13 hour trip in one day, and we were all happy to be home when we arrived. Luke was spectacular on the trip pointing out trucks, police cars, etc...for 11 hours before falling asleep as we neared home. It was a wonderful time together.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

3-9-10

Last Tuesday was a great adventure for us. We headed to the state park that sits about a mile from where we were staying for a nature hike. Luke hiked a lot of the trail and then enjoyed resting on daddy as we wrapped up the outing! We enjoyed the sights, met some nice people and even ran into another toddler that Luke socialized with a bit.

We had lunch at a nearby burger place where Luke enjoyed a treat of mozzerella sticks and a milkshake (total vacation treat!) Each time we would drive by after that meal he would yell which I interpreted as a strong liking for that milkshake!

There was another pretty sunset that night and we enjoyed being part of a true dog party (except on a beach and not at the top of a tree) The girls played off leash with 5 other dogs for about 45 minutes and then definitely crashed when we got back 'home' Good fun!
On a current note, yesterday I got home from an early dentist appt. to find Luke having a fun time with Gma Susan. They had been reviewing his colors and playing with a cute set of finger puppets that Aunt Shannon sent him. We visited for a bit and then Luke and I reviewed his truck books while I worked on some meal prep in the kitchen. It was really fun to work while 'talking' to him, and he had a good time showing off his favorite trucks. Speaking of trucks, we left a little later to go visit a workout place that a couple of my friends use. They have a nice daycare area and Luke did great for 50 minutes. There were a couple other kids there, and the babysitter said that he played with cars the whole time - until he found a semi-truck that was calling his name :) He cried when we left because we had to leave the truck! It was fun to get him when I was done working out because he was really excited to walk me around and show me what he had been doing and also gave me a kiss! After that fun, we went to check out a local construction site and vacuum the car...The site is next to the car wash I use and here is little man checking out the action. When we got home, Steve met us for some lunch and Luke went to work pouring and feeling and measuring the sugar. He ended up taking a little taste. He had a blast...

3-8-10

Starting with some pictures from Sunday night's sunset. So pretty and so fun to run around on cool sand while we enjoyed it. Monday was more fun in the sun and relaxing together...oh yeah, and a visit to the local backhoe. Luke even saw it dig into and break a water main (on accident) Now that is excitement!

We are adjusted to daylight savings since we travelled to the east coast, but Sunday was still kind of sleepy. Luke slept past 9:00 and I thought he might make it without a nap (or without a nap from 3-6 with an 11:00 bedtime!) At around 5 he was pretty sleepy and a tad cranky so I asked him if he wanted to cuddle up with me on the floor (I was lounging watching a house show and watching him race his cars around) so he ran over, climbed on top of me and within minutes Steve looked over and said with a surprised look on his face "Babe, he is out" We snuggled (wonderfully) on the floor until 6:30, he woke for a minute, fell back asleep, Steve changed his diaper, and I rocked him back to his room where he went down for the night...SOOOOOO Sweet!

3-7-10

I will be living in the past for the next week enjoying the memory of our fun trip. These are some pictures from last Sunday. We slept in, cooked a bunch in the morning, then headed to the beach for Luke's daytime introduction to the ocean. It went well...After naps and lunch we played some more in our condo and then headed into town for some great seafood fajitas. Luke didn't eat much but he did stare and smile at a couple of little girls sitting next to us.

Four Years

Today is our four year anniversary. It was a present to wake up in our own bed after a long drive home from Florida yesterday. We also had nice visits from both sets of parents this morning. It is great to be home, it is great to be married, it is great to be a mom :)
