Spontaneous fun

Saturday morning, this happy boy spent time running errands with daddy and earning a red stripe on his belt at Tae Kwon Do. After lunch, he and I headed out for a birthday party only to realize that I had the DAY wrong so we headed to Castle Park to find some fun. The park had an ice cream vendor, Luke was interested in a treat, I had NO cash, so we played, imagined, explored, etc...and headed to an alternative ice cream spot at the Lodge for sundaes. He sat across from me 'so we can talk to each other' and we had a lovely time talking, laughing, drawing while eating sundaes on a Saturday.

At one point, I whispered to Luke, "I love you" and he whispered back, 'I already know that, mommy'.

PS - the birthday party was fun on SUNDAY!

Today marks the first day that Luke shared many details of his day with me on the way home from school. It made me ridiculously happy to hear unprompted what he had to eat, 'breadsticks, oranges, beef stroganoff and cereal for breafkast' in his version of the order, what he played 'laser game with Avery and the pretend food' and other misc...tidbits of his day. Ridiculously happy.
