Feeling Blue

Here is a series of photos of a little boy that likes

- the color blue
- pancakes
- blueberries
- eating BLUE BLUEBERRY PANCAKES

We have a lot of fun with little ideas at our house! Luke loved adding the food coloring to the pancake mix, and I loved watching him eat three for dinner! He still isn't the biggest lover of produce so getting some blueberries in his belly is a nice victory. Especially when he is yelling "YUM YUM" while he eats.

Snow day fun

We had two snow days last week which was very nice. Two days to stay in our PJ's and play. Another way of saying that is a good day for the house to throw up all over itself. See what I mean? Luke took the picture of me in my pj's :)

I just love this little boy!

That is what Luke is now...totally a little boy. Playing with tools, chatting up a storm, having lots of fun and once in a while giving mommy a kiss. He is a JOY! I would freeze time right now if I could :)

I certainly love my girls, too...can't forget. Luna, especially, is responsible for any positive parenting skills that I may exhibit.

Yippee for Friday

Not only is it Friday but we are all now officially on Holiday Break! Two weeks of family time and fun. I am thrilled. I took Luke to school today (he has a MONTH off!) and he did not want me to leave :( I think we have all enjoyed 2 snowdays together this week and are happy to have some time together. The sun is out too so we are actually going to get out for a family walk!

Extended weekend and a bad word

This has been a wonderful weekend! It is Monday and we have a snowday so it is a surprise three day weekend which is a wonderful treat! This morning Luke got in bed with me, snuggled for a while, looked at me and said "I love you" (smiles all around)

Saturday I got out in the morning with my mom to shop and we actually found things that we wanted! Plus, I came home with a receipt that made me laugh b/c of the 'savings' on the bill. I always want to dissect receipts to see how much money I 'saved' and Steve always laughs at me.

Steve took Luke for a Gma Susan and Gpa Paul fix while I was out. My favorite part of hearing about his morning was when he said he got into a discussion about saving the world with his dad and time passed and he hadn't heard Luke for a while but all of a sudden he heard 'more ice cream, please'. Luke and Gma had been sharing a feast of colby cheese, spaghetti and meatballs, Italian bread and of course ice ream for dessert while Steve and Gpa talked and talked...cute! Luke also got to talk to Aunt Shannon while he was visiting so that was a total bonus!

Yesterday, my adorable and adoring husband had to work in his office all day on a paper that was due this morning and which he had procrastinated like it was his job. So...while it snowed and while the wind got windier and colder, Luke and I played, ate, read, played, cooked, laughed, ate, tried chocolate milk and played some more. It was a WONDERFUL day! The only time I changed clothes was after a hot bath while Luke napped and I put on a new set of PJ's! YES! Here is a shot of Luke with a snack of popcorn and choc. milk. The other is of him eating pasta and pizza while checking on the Steelers score.
The Steelers and and Lions (!) won yesterday, too!

Around 7pm, Luke said out of the blue 'want Daddy home' so we called Daddy and he was home (and done with the paper!) within an hour. He even brought Luke's request, a cheeseburger, with him. I am out a bit this morning delivering goodies to Luke's school and getting some groceries and then back home to my house that has become a huge playland with toys everywhere. I love snowdays.

Last thing, Saturday night I got annoyed at Steve when we were at my parents house and said 'you piss me off' Steve was laughing about it and annoying me more because he knows that I am never actually mad but immediately Luke says CLEAR AS A BELL 'piss me off' about three times in a row. I fell on the couch laughing and Luke came over and kissed me. He never said it again and I know I can't say those things around him, but is was actually really amusing.

Soak it up

I got to pick Luke up a teensy bit early tonight and then go on a little adventure in the car before we came home and immediately read the book "Cars" It is a book with a magnetic drawing pad and pen so he enjoys following the directions and drawing each vehicle as the pages turn. Note that his interpretation of a forklift, tow truck, fire engine etc...may not look like anyone else's. That is part of the beauty of reading it 7,000 times. You get to see 7,000 versions :)

Anyway, I had to leave later in the evening for a book club meeting that was quite enjoyable. When I got home the house was quiet, but not totally dark and I heard "MOMMY!" come from Luke's room. I walked back to find the joys of my life laying in a race car bed together in the dark relaxing. As I arrived, Luke let out a small squeal of delight and then...crawled out of bed at lightning (McQueen) speed and ran as fast as I have ever seen him run down the hall to the part of the house with lights still on. It made me stop in the dark, give Steve a kiss and just LAUGH.

I walked out with a smile still on my face to find Luke snuggled as if hiding between a couch cushion and an end table and saying "Luke stay awake" as if it were his personal mantra. We read a favorite George book taking bites of banana as the pages turned and as I felt him relax, I cradled him in my arms and sand "Rock A Bye" over and over. He got heavier and heavier, we stared into each others eyes, I told him I loved him, I gave him kisses and I kept singing softly. It was the loveliest moment of my day. How long will a person trust you enough while you hold them in your arms and tell them to close their eyes to actually close their eyes? I learn something every day when I spend time with our child. One thing is for sure, I love him with every cell and my wish for him is health and happiness.

Here are a couple of my favorite recent pictures. Because what good is a post if there are no pictures of the star :)

Also, the report from Steve tonight was that he and Luke and Luna finished off some ice cream in the fridge while I was away. They ate, they loved on Luna and they smiled I am sure. Luke also leaned over spur of the moment tonight and gave Steve a kiss on the cheek as Steve was reading him books. We are just soaking all of these moments up with big thankful smiles on our faces.
