Florida Fun

Asleep about 40 minutes before we reached our Alabama stop for the night....
Waking up to a car carrier outside our hotel room window...

Eager and happy for the shorter second day of travel...
Arriving in time to stop at a park, dip our toes in the ocean and get some lunch at Conehead's!
Playing 'straw hockey' while we waited (and waited)
Ready for a rest from the road...
Beach fun! When he saw the waves, Luke would run back, grab my hand and say "Let's go, mommy" over and over we tackled the waves!

Helping daddy get our beach gear to our spot for the week.
 Pretty comfy...

 Just pretty.
Pool fun post beach is a great way to mix up the day :) (and get the sand off at the pool shower!)

First sip of root beer & I had to fight to get my drink back!
 Nap time
 For all...
 Happy feet
State park hike on the warmest day there.
This log was a 'boat' that we were all supposed to 'take a little rest on'
Deer at the park. They followed us from SI. There were also zillions of baby crabs at every shoreline or shallow water spot. They were kind of cool and kind of gross at the same time.
 Follow the leader.

Luke took a moment to examine some branches and make letters out of the pieces. This trip involved a lot of "What does this spell, mommy" L-H-O-L-L-T-R-R for example.
Wiping sand of on the 'mommy napkin'

Collecting berries and taking off at a jog to find more interesting things.

 Hot! rest time...
 Just a 'so big' cutie!
Mandatory adventure to the lighthouse...131 steps to which Luke said 'I can do this' over and over.

Climbing up and up and up...

We all made it! The lighthouse lady had given Luke a button to wear if he made it to the top. So, we pinned it to him while enjoying a really beautiful view from the top.

 Happy...really happy!

Did I say happy? This time together was really the best part of the trip. Luke was obviously thrilled to be with us for the week and we were so happy to get a chunk of family time together before summer even really started!

 And Star had fun, too!

"WHAT TIME IS IT" was also a real theme of the trip. We must have reported the time about 1,000,001 times in the 24 hours there and back :)
Home to a full moon!

'We're in Alabama, y'all' - explanation he gave me when I asked him why he went to the bathroom OUTSIDE of a gas station.
